The Old Parliament House in Delhi, now known as Samvidhan Sadan, stands as a historic landmark at the heart of India’s political landscape. Serving as the seat of the Indian Parliament from 1927 to 2023, its chambers have echoed with debates and decisions that shaped the nation’s destiny.  

Designed by British architects Sir Edwin Lutyens and Sir Herbert Baker, the building was completed in 1927 as part of the grand vision for New Delhi. Its circular structure, inspired by classical architecture, reflects a blend of Western and Indian influences, symbolizing the democratic ideals of the young nation. The colonnaded façade and grand central hall have witnessed key moments in India’s journey, including the adoption of the Constitution in 1949.  

Over nearly a century, the Old Parliament House remained the epicenter of Indian democracy before the transition to the new Parliament building in 2023. Today, it stands as a heritage site, preserving the legacy of India’s legislative history.
